Hundreds of people have just been sickened after a serious virus outbreak. The incident occurred off the coast of Florida on the Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas cruise ship.
"On Jan. 10, WESH reported that the ocean liner will be returning to Port Canaveral on Jan. 12, soon after Royal Caribbean reps confirmed to the Associated Press that 277 passengers had fallen sick with the gastrointestinal bug," according to reports.
The ship is one of the largest cruise ships on the entire planet. Now, officials are making the cruise turn around and head back in rather than risk the health of more passengers.
"Passengers took to social media on Wednesday, tweeting they were forced to stay onboard after docking in Falmouth, Jamaica, for what was supposed to be a day of excursions," reported Fox.
The ship now has to be completely cleaned and sanitized. Officials believe the cause of the sickness is the norovirus. At this time, all passengers are said to be receiving a refund for their expenses.
The $1.5 billion, Oasis of the Seas weighs 226,000 tons, is 1,184 feet long and can carry a maximum of 8,880 people. Sadly, this won't be a great memory for a lot of passengers.
