HP Releases Major Recall Over Dangerous Fire Concerns

The troubling news was just reported that HP is recalling an additional 78,500 lithium-ion batteries. The recall was over the fact that the batteries could overheat, spark fires, or burn consumers.

Over a year ago, HP revealed that they were recalling 50,000 laptops over the same issue. Now, they have dramatically expanded their recall.

Below are the items that were affected by the recall. The following items were what the batteries were included with:

HP ProBooks (64x G2 and G3 series, 65x G2 and G3 series, 4xx G4 series)

HPx360 (310 G2)

HP Pavilion x360 11-inch Notebook PC

HP 11 Notebook PC

HP ZBook (17 G3, and Studio G3)

Additionally, the batteries were sold as accessories for the following products:

HP ZBook Studio G4 mobile workstation

HP ProBook 4xx G5 series


HP Mobile Thin Clients (mt21, mt22, and mt31)

The official recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Tuesday.

If you have an HP laptop, make sure to check your battery! At this point, over 100,000 batteries have been recalled over the dangerous issue.
