Every year the Screen Actors Guild Awards honors actors, voted on by actors and focusing solely on their TV and film work — but every celebrity has a different story of how they received their SAG card. The token signifies acceptance into the union and is usually presented after stars have their first onscreen roles.
The 2022 ceremony’s nominees gathered in person at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar. After being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards were held almost one year earlier.
“After such a long time apart [during the coronavirus pandemic], we’re excited to be together again this year at the 28th annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards,” newly elected SAG-AFTRA president Fran DrescherAs nominations were made public, the announcement was made in January 2022.

It’s the story of an artist longing to express themself, an artist longing to sing as much of their song as possible while they are here alive and breathing. It’s a story about longing to bring our gifts to the world; about following the thread of our destiny in the face of failure and rejection.”
