American television host Wendy Williams recently made a tearful announcement on "The Wendy Williams Show." While filming the show, she broke down in tears as she talked to the audience about her latest personal struggles.
The 54-year-old talk show host revealed that she is currently living in a sober house. Many of her fans are aware that she was addicted to cocaine in the past, and has since dedicated much of her work to helping others who struggle with addiction.
"For some time now, and even today and beyond, I have been living in a sober house,” Williams said with tears in her eyes.
"You know I've had a struggle with cocaine in my past," she added. "I never went to a place to get treatment. I don't know how. God was just sitting on my shoulder and I just stopped."
Her daily routine is a fight against her addiction. After work, she goes to pilates, partakes in several meetings, visits with her "brothers and sisters" who are also fighting addiction, and ends her night at the sober living home by 10:00 PM.
Only her husband and her son were aware of Williams' living situation until she went public with the information. Her parents didn't even know.
In her announcement, she also touched on The Hunter Foundation, which is a non-profit that focuses on helping youth recover from addiction. She and her husband, Kevin Hunter, are the founders of the organization. A new feature that they incorporated is a hotline, 888-5HUNTER (888-548-6837) that addicts or former addicts can call if they need any assistance.
