A man in Washington state recently went through a terrifying ordeal. While on the phone with 911, he was forced to shoot and kill a burglary suspect inside his home.

The incident reportedly happened during the middle of the night. It took place in a suburb of Seattle and the man was said to have awakened in the night to find the suspect in his house.

“Initially he thought there were three suspects,” King County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Abbott told Q13 News. “So far the investigation is proving that not to be true, it just appears to be one suspect that acted alone at this time.”

Some have used this example to praise the homeowner and defend the use of guns as a means of protection. The police stood unanimously with the man and said he had the right to pull the trigger.

“You have every right to protect yourself or your family if you’re in fear for your life or safety, and it appears that’s what happened in this instance so far,” Abbott told Q13 News.

Neighbors in the area are said to feel a bit anxious due to rising crime. This will hopefully deter future burglars from the area.
