The Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, has reportedly been sacked from the government this afternoon after what has been reported as an honest mistake to do with the sharing of ‘sensitive data’ on a mobile phone.
According to reports, the incident involved a violation of the ministerial code. As a result, the prime minister chose to fire Ms. Braverman.
It is not thought that the Home Secretary’s departure from the government is related to a lack of cabinet confidence in Liz Truss, or a particular policy dispute.
Ms Braverman’s departure is the reason Liz Truss cancelled a visit to a defense company earlier this afternoon. The planned visit, which was only confirmed to journalists by the prime minister’s official spokesman just before 1pm today, had since been cancelled without explanation.
