Hershey, which evokes childhood memories of s’mores by the campfire, is doing something they haven’t done since 1995. They’re releasing a new bar.
But guess what? It’s not even chocolate. The Pennsylvania-based candy company wants to tantalize your taste buds with a whole new flavor.
According to Southern Living, the new bar is called Hershey’s Gold. It’s filled with crunchy peanuts and pretzels encased in, not milk chocolate, but “caramelized crème.”
Those who have gotten to try it before its release say that Hershey’s Gold is a delightful fusion of saltiness and sweetness wrapped around a satisfactory crunch. And it’s oh-so-creamy.
Melinda Lewis of Hershey explained, “We use a proprietary cooking process to transform the white creme into a golden bar by caramelizing the creme, which helps maintain a sweet, creamy taste.”
According to USA Today, the candymaker chose to insert peanuts and pretzels because of the "rising popularity of crunchy multi-textured candy."
The only other Hershey bar flavors that exist, aside from milk chocolate, are dark chocolate and cookies ‘n creme. So when will you be able to sink your teeth into Hershey’s Gold?
Dec. 1 is the launch date. The company is timing the release ahead of another golden event, the next Olympic Winter Games, which will be held from Feb. 8 to 25 in PyeongChang, South Korea.
