On Wednesday, June 27, Justice Anthony Kennedy announced that he would be retiring from his position on the Supreme Court. He is currently the longest-serving justice on the court, having served for 30 years.
After his announcement was made public, many liberals and the mainstream media began criticizing the 81-year-old for his decision, as it would mean that President Trump would be able to choose his replacement.
When Justice Kennedy announced his retirement, President Trump said, “He is a man that I’ve known for a long time and a man that I’ve respected for a long time. He’s been a great justice of the Supreme Court. He is a man who is displaying great vision. We will begin our search for a new justice of the United States Supreme Court. That will begin immediately.”
