On Wednesday, May 30, a somewhat surprising guest paid a visit to the White House to have a meeting with President Trump. Kim Kardashian, mega-famous celebrity and reality star of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” held a meeting with the president.

When news emerged that Kim K. would be making her way to the White House, several curious Americans began speculating about what the purpose could be. Some assumed that it was to talk about her husband, Kanye West, who has shown a vested interested in President Trump’s politics.

However, the real reason that the meeting was held was to talk about prison reform, a topic that Kim Kardashian has been researching and involving herself in. Kim met with President Trump as well as senior adviser Jared Kushner in order to discuss the future of prison reform.

Additionally, Kim K. was reportedly pleading for a presidential pardon for a woman who is serving life-in-prison after a first-time drug offense. Alice Marie Johnson is a 62-year-old great-grandmother and currently doesn’t even have a chance at parole. She has been in prison since October 1996, for over 20 years.

Kim Kardashian took an interest in Johnson’s case in October 2017. She learned about her imprisonment and tweeted a simple, “This is so unfair.” Since then, she has been advocating for and learning about prison reform.

After the meeting took place, both President Trump and Kim Kardashian spoke out about how it went.

President Trump said, “Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing.”

Kim Kardashian released a statement that read, “I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense. We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she- and so many like her- will get a second chance at life.”

What do you think about this? Do you think that a presidential pardon should be issued? Let us know! In other recent news, a musician just fell to his death from an escalator after "clowning around." Please pray for his family after this sudden death.
