Actress Heather Locklear was hospitalized last week following a suicide threat. The 56-year-old Hollywood star is best-known for her role on the popular 1990s television series “Melrose Place” but has also starred in a number of films including “The Perfect Man,” “Flirting with Forty,” and others.
According to PEOPLE, a family member — who is believed to be her mother — called 911 last Sunday after Locklear threatened to shoot and kill herself. She was allegedly “agitated and violent” during the incident.
Additionally, details from a TMZ video clip (below) revealed that the 911 call was made after Locklear's parents showed up at her home to check up on her. At the house, Locklear choked her mother and violently hit her father while threatening to take her own life.
The actress apparently did not have immediate access to any weapons. However, authorities stated that she was looking for a gun to attempt suicide.
It is unclear if she was under the influence at the time of the incident but Locklear does have a history of substance abuse. Over the years, she has been admitted to rehab facilities and arrested for a DUI.
She was taken to the hospital for a psychological evaluation and was released on Thursday following a three-day hold in a psychiatric ward.
In wake of the hospitalization, family and fans were extremely worried. Fortunately for Locklear, the family member who called 911 potentially prevented a great tragedy.
Many fans also took to social media to express their concerns for Locklear’s overall health and wellbeing.
