A bittersweet yet heartwarming story has come out of Michigan after a married couple passed away just hours apart on the same day. The couple, who rarely spent a day apart, were married 56 years.
According to the couple's daughter MaryBeth, Will and Judy Webb were in hospice together and were holding hands before they died. The two were both 77-years-old.
WXYZ Detroit reported the couple had known each other since they were 14-years-old and stayed in touch throughout Will's time in the military while their friendship developed into a beautiful love story.
MaryBeth shared with the news outlet that following a medical procedure last year for Judy, her health began to decline. After she was put on a ventilator her husband Will collapsed from exhaustion. She also went on to say that their health issues continued to mirror one another until they passed away.
“My dad — seeing her like that — it was too much for him,” MaryBeth explained. “From that point on, everything that happened to her happened to him in a different place."
When Will was placed in hospice care, Judy, of course, wanted to join him. Their hospital beds were pushed close together so they could hold hands. After Will died on March 6, Judy died hours later.
"When my dad died, my mom just kind of – she wasn’t responsive at all, verbally -- but you could see her pick up her hand and she was rubbing my dad’s hand like, 'I’ll be there soon,'" MaryBeth said.
According to the couple's obituary, the two leave behind three daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
