Head Chef at Nebraska Public School Fired for Serving Kids This Exotic Animal

A truly strange story is being reported out of Nebraska. A head cook at a local public school has been fired after serving students kangaroo meat.

"The chef, Kevin Frei, used the meat because of its 'nutritional value,' Williams said. He noted that while the meat was legal to sell and eat, and not 'unhealthy or dangerous' — it 'has to meet USDA standards in order for companies to sell it' — students should know what's in the food they're eating," reported Fox News.

The superintended for Potter-Dix Public Schools has issued a major apology to all students and parents. He tried to reassure children and parents that the meat will not be served again.

"If a family wants to eat exotic foods, they can do so on their own time — not at school," he wrote in his apology letter. "If, we were to have food or ingredients that are out of the ordinary, they should be listed on the menu so that the students and families are aware of what they would be being served."

At this time, officials have not released where the kangaroo meat came from. It is unclear as to how it was brought to the school. Perhaps the cook ordered it or even brought it in himself. It was apparently used as the meat portion of a chili that was prepared.

What do you think about this? Would you be upset if your child was served kangaroo meat and didn't know it? Let us hear your thoughts! In other recent news, a woman who captured the world's attention for selflessly saving her daughter has died at the age of 29.
