The Parkland school shooting rocked the nation. The tragedy left over a dozen students dead and others were injured. It made national news and prompted a major conversation about guns in America.
In the wake of the shooting, many students became outspoken voices for their respective positions on guns and gun laws. One of the outspoken conservative students is Kyle Kashuv.
Kyle was so influential that the President and First Lady even hosted him at the White House to discuss the controversial issue. He became a famous voice for the conservative movement almost overnight.
Since then Kyle has been preparing for college. He was accepted at Harvard and was planning to attend the school this fall. However, Kyle just received some sad news.
"On Monday, Parkland survivor and outspoken conservative Kyle Kashuv announced that Harvard University had withdrawn his admission from the school over the revelation of racist, offensive, idiotic posts written on a private Google document with friends when he was sixteen years old. Never mind that Kashuv apologized publicly for the comments; never mind that his public behavior has evinced no racism whatsoever," reported the Daily Wire.
It seems to be another example of liberal leaders ousting conservatives on a biased basis. The news went viral online and many prominent commentators spoke out about Kyle's rejection for the school.
"So if you say something terrible in a private chat room when you're 16, then get outed by political opponents, Harvard tosses you? Get ready for the wave. I have a feeling Harvard is filled with 18-year-olds who used to be idiot 16-year-olds," wrote Ben Shapiro on Twitter.
"Let's get real -- Harvard's decision has everything to do with the politics of @KyleKashuv - they don't want conservatives on their campus," said Todd Starnes on Twitter.
Kashuv’s comments were originally surfaced by fellow students who oppose him politically, in an overt attempt to damage him. Kashuv did the right thing and issued an immediate apology, wrote the Daily Wire.
It will be interesting to see how the school responds given the negative publicity. Some wonder if they will be hurt by it or simply strengthened by their liberal base.
