Popular Baby Medicine Recalled Nationwide After Discovery of Undissolved Product

On Monday, February 18, a popular herbal supplement for infants and adults was recalled for a dangerous reason. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, “Gripe Water” is being recalled nationwide.

According to Fox News, the supplement could put children at risk of choking. Kingston Pharma LLC noted that the liquid contains “undissolved citrus flavonoid.”

The recall covers all lots of “DG Baby Gripe Water herbal supplement with organic ginger and fennel extracts.” The FDA noted that while this product has been recalled and should be used with caution, this is not a hazardous situation.

They stated, “Use of the product should not be considered hazardous but could result in difficulty when swallowing the product for sensitive individuals.”

As of the time of this report, Kingston Pharma LLC had received at least three complaints regarding the undissolved citrus flavonoid. At least one report was received stating that a one-week-old infant had difficulty swallowing the product.

According to reports, the “Gripe Water” has been sold nationwide at Dollar General Stores. The product comes in 4-ounce bottles and has safety-seal white caps. The product’s UPC Code is 8 5495400246  3.

The FDA is urging consumers to use caution with this product. If a child has consumed it and is experiencing problems, consumers are being told to reach out to their physician or healthcare provider.
