A big recall has just hit a large portion of the United States. At this time, at least 9 different states are said to be at risk.
The recall is involving Marketside green beans and butternut squash. The popular veggies have been discovered to possibly contain listeria. The bacteria can be very deadly.
"Southern Specialties Inc. of Pompano Beach, Florida, announced the recall Monday, warning that the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Even healthy adults can suffer symptoms like high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea," reported Fox News.
The products were shipped to various stores. One of the most popular sellers of the vegetables is Walmart. Shoppers are urged to use extreme caution and check their products at home to make sure they don't accidentally eat one of these contaminated vegetables.
"The company says it shipped the recalled product to one retail distribution center. Most of the product was retrieved, but some product shipped earlier this month might have reached stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee," according to reports.
