The 2019 Grammy Awards went off without a hitch this year. Despite past years, there was little controversy that made headlines. However, one dress has been talked about almost non-stop since it showed up on the red carpet.
Joy Villa made quite the statement at the show when she decided to wear a dress inspired by President Trump's policy to build a massive wall at the southern border. Villa is an open Trump supporter and became a household name after she wore a MAGA inspired dress last year.
Villa recently opened up about what her experience was like while wearing the outfit. She said people were definitely not treating her very well, especially since the crowd was filled with liberals and Hollywood elites.
“It was crazy,” she said during an interview on FOXBusiness’ Mornings with Maria Opens a New Window. . “A lot of people were just giving me side-eye, giving me negative looks, not willing to look me in the eye, scrunching up their face.”
“The photographers were screaming at me—highly unprofessional—the photographers were hired by the Grammy’s, you know that’s all they are supposed to do,” she said. “They were screaming down with Trump. We hate Trump. Trump hates you. You’re a traitor and Trump’s a traitor. I was like this is different—there was way more hate and vitriol this year than in 2017.”
There was a lot of mixed emotions online regarding Villa's dress. Some people loved that she stuck to her roots and supported President Trump. Others condemned Villa for her beliefs.
