R&B singer Ne-Yo shared some exciting news with his fans on Wednesday morning, reported People. He’s going to be a dad for the fourth time!
This will be the second child for the singer (whose real name is Shaffer Smith) and his wife Crystal Smith. The couple star in E!’s new series The Platinum Life, along with Ne-Yo’s two other children from another relationship.
Smith, 28, revealed her pregnancy on Instagram Wednesday morning. She posted an adorable photo of the couple, who were married in 2016, together. In the pic, Ne-Yo, 38, is cradling her baby bump.
She wrote in the caption, “We didn’t plan for you but you are Gods plan and I thank you for choosing us to be your parents! Impatiently awaiting our newest addition.”
She jokingly added, “WE’RE PREGNANT!!! @neyo (I think he did it on purpose)joking! LOL #ThePlatinumLife #ThePlatinumFamily.”
Ne-Yo and Smith’s latest baby joins Shaffer Chimere Jr., 19 months, as well as NE-YO’s kids from a previous relationship: son, Mason Evan, 6, and daughter Madilyn Grace, 7 this month.
Ne-Yo also announced the pregnancy on his Instagram. He posted a collage with pictures of his three children and a fourth picture with a question mark.
“Sooooooo…..guess who’s awaiting a NEW ARRIVAL!?!” wrote Ne-Yo. “@itscrystalsmith and yours truly are happy to announce we are expecting! #NewAddition #ExtendingTheFamily.”
Smith gave an interview with E! News about the pregnancy. She revealed that the baby wasn’t planned, but the couple is happy to have another child.
“We are so excited!” Smith told E! News. “This definitely wasn’t in the plan and we weren’t trying at all!”
She also shared that their three other children can’t wait for another sibling. She said, “Maddie has asked a few times for a little sister since having SJ, so fingers crossed.”
The couple waited until Smith was beyond her first trimester to announce the pregnancy. She shared that it's been a pretty easy pregnancy; she’s been able to avoid morning sickness.
“I haven’t really been sick at all, but the cravings are real!” she said. “All I want are raw oysters and steak! Which since becoming vegan has totally messed up my diet but as long as our miracle gets the nutrition it needs I will eat all the meat in the world!”
The couple also shared that although they don’t know the baby’s gender yet, they do have names.
“We have had names for our angels since before Shaffer Jr. was born so, yes, we are all set on baby names,” they said.
Congratulations to the couple on their latest addition. Please pray for continued good health for Smith and the baby. In other celebrity news, Harry Connick Jr.'s wife just revealed a secret health battle that lasted five years.
