9 Verses to Contemplate on This Good Friday; Love Won the Day

April 19, 2019Apr 19, 2019

On Friday, April 19, people around the world are contemplating Good Friday. It is celebrated around the world as the day that Jesus was crucified on the cross, only to be raised to life three days later.

Below are some verses to contemplate as you walk through this Good Friday and head into the weekend.

MARK 9:31

“Because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, ‘The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.’”

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

MARK 10:45

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served,  but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

1 PETER 3:18

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.”

“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, Iama sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’”

JOHN 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

ROMANS 5:6-10

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die;  yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son,  much more,  having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
