One of the most famous chefs in the world is Anthony Bourdain. The travel host turned food expert has been successfully critiquing gourmet meals both in America and abroad for decades.
Sadly, Bourdain has died of an apparent suicide. He was in France, working on a piece for CNN, when his close friend found him unresponsive in his hotel room. He was only 61 years of age.
“We can confirm the death of Anthony Bourdain in the Haute-Rhin department of France,” the Embassy said. “We extend our sincere condolences to friends and family. We stand ready to provide appropriate consular services. Out of respect for the family, we have no further comment," said a spokesperson for the United States Embassy in Paris.
Now, his girlfriend is opening up about the finals days of Bourdain's life and about her relationship with him. She released a statement on Friday. She is reportedly said to be "devastated" by his passing.
“Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did. His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was my love, my rock, my protector,” she wrote on Twitter.
"Anthony Bourdain recently gained attention as an outspoken advocate of the "MeToo" movement, with his vocal support of dozens of women – including his own girlfriend, actress Asia Argento," wrote ABC news.
His death comes just days after Kate Spade, the famous New York designer, took her own life. Please join us in praying for anyone who has mental health issues. We ask that God's grace and mercy would surround them and encourage them during their most difficult times.
