Heartbreaking news recently struck Elvis Presley’s friends and family. George Klein, a longtime confidant of the King of Rock & Roll, sadly passed away on Tuesday, February 5th.
Klein was 83 years old at the time of his death. According to the Rolling Stone, Klein died in hospice care following a two-week illness. He reportedly battled pneumonia among other health problems.
In addition to being a part of Presley’s entourage, “Memphis Mafia,” Klein was also recognized as a famous radio personality. He was known for his deep voice.
A statement was released on the social media account tied to Elvis Presley’s Graceland:
“Priscilla, Lisa and all of us with EPE are deeply saddened that we have lost our dear friend George Klein. Our hearts are with George’s family, friends and fans – as we celebrate his life and his important place in the history of Memphis music.”
"Their friendship was golden, truly golden," Priscilla Presley said of Klein and her ex-husband. "I don't think I've ever heard George say anything bad about anybody."
"It hits home," she added. "He's the last of our history, in many ways."
