Oprah Winfrey has been the talk of the nation in recent days following the rumors about her potential 2020 presidential run. Although Oprah has not confirmed the candidacy herself, suspicions rose after her monumental Golden Globes speech where she emphasized, “A new day is on the horizon.”

Her fans were ecstatic. #Oprah2020 was even trending on social media immediately after the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, which took place on Sunday evening.

Since the public became intensely curious about whether the television star will actually run for president, several well-known names have spoken out about the possibility, giving some insight into Oprah’s stance on the situation.

Previously, Oprah’s longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham expressed his full support for his lover if she runs. Graham stated, “It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it,” hinting that the rumors could be true.

On Tuesday, television personality Gayle King— a close friend of Oprah—also commented on the rumors. According to CNN, King revealed that Oprah is “intrigued” by the idea.

"I don't think at this point she is actually considering it," King stated. "I also know, after years of watching the Oprah show, you always have the right to change your mind."

King ended with a bold statement, "She loves this country and would like to be of service in some way," but it is not yet clear how she will be of service.

CNN also reported that additional sources confirmed she is taking the idea seriously. According to the sources, she has not yet made a final decision, but "She's listening to a lot of people who are saying: 'You can do this.’”
