Some sad news was just confirmed on Thursday night. One of the world’s most beloved comedians, Freddie Starr, has passed away.
Starr was only 76 years old at the time of his death. Sadly, he was found dead at his home in Spain, according to the Mirror.
A neighbor said, “His carer found him dead in his chair at around 3:30 p.m. Police arrived first and then later an ambulance arrived and he was taken away.”
The neighbor continued, “His next door neighbor who is a nurse said he was definitely dead. She said she thinks he may have suffered a heart attack.”
Another witness added, “He’s been quite ill ever since he moved in and has barely left his apartment since moving in a couple of years ago. He would just sit indoors all day long and he never had any visitors. It’s so tragic.”
Freddie star was a beloved comedian and singer. He rose to fame in the early 1970s when he appeared on “Opportunity Knocks” and the “Royal Variety Performance.”
Eventually, Starr created his own shows, including “The Freddie Star Show” and “An Audience with Freddie Starr.”
Beyond his years as a comedian, Freddie was the lead singer of Merseybeat pop group “Midniters.” Additionally, he was on “Beat the Crusher” and “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!”
His time on the reality show came just one year after his quadruple bypass surgery after he had suffered from a previous heart attack. After collapsing on the show, producers kicked the star off for fear that they would we responsible if anything happened.
