Wow, as one commenter to Franklin Graham's passionate post said, "It's about time a father spoke up!" Thousands agreed.
In Alabama, a first-of-its-kind case is being brought before the court: a man is suing an abortion clinic for killing his unborn child without his consent. Normally we hear about women choosing to have abortions, with the unspoken understanding that the father did not want the child either. But not in this case.
Ryan Magers, now 21, was 19 when he pleaded with his 16 year-old girlfriend not to abort their baby, just 6 weeks gestational age. She refused his request and took an abortion pill from the Alabama Women’s Center for Reproductive Alternatives, whom Magers is now suing. The baby is now being referred to as "Baby Roe," after Roe v. Wade.
The girl's parents defended her action, saying it was her choice to end the pregnancy. But Magers is standing for a different kind of man than the one often portrayed in the media: he is saying, no, it was my baby too, and I have a right to speak for my baby's life.
Franklin Graham posted about the "groundbreaking" case on Facebook, urging everyone to pray for the would-be father and the outcome of the case, which could have significant implications on future unborn babies.
"This could be a groundbreaking case," began Graham's post. "Ryan Magers is suing an abortion clinic for terminating the life of his unborn child against his wishes. This young man was the father, and his rights were violated. Even more importantly, his child’s right to life was ignored—snuffed out in an abortion. On Tuesday, an Alabama county court recognized the aborted fetus, 'Baby Roe,' as a plaintiff in the lawsuit, making the case one of the first of its kind."
"Ryan’s attorney said, 'Baby Roe’s innocent life was taken by the profiteering of the Alabama Women’s Center and while no court will be able to bring Baby Roe back to life, we will seek the fullest extent of justice on behalf of Baby Roe and Baby Roe’s father … either we fully acknowledge the personhood of the unborn or we cherry pick which innocents we protect and which ones we trash for profit.' Abortion is a sickening display of how far our nation has strayed from God. Pray for Ryan and for this case. Pray that courts, legislators, and the American people will wake up to the truth that abortion is murder," urged Graham.
The fact that the court accepted a case defending an unborn baby (whom, for example, Hilary Clinton and most other Democrats want to allow zero constitutional rights of personhood) is huge.
Magers’ attorney, Brent Helms of Albertville, said, "It gives more legs to the lawsuit and it's also pretty monumental because it's the first time a probate court has opened an estate for an aborted baby. It does establish some precedent in that it recognizes that an aborted baby is a person. I guess that would be the significance of the opening of the estate."
Here is our prayer: Oh Lord, we pray that the court rules in favor of this unborn baby who was killed. We pray it sets a powerful standard in this nation that would turn abortion around. We pray You would overturn Roe. v Wade and bless President Trump and Vice President Pence in their fight to do so. Please bless and protect this young father. In Jesus' name, amen.
