The violence and rhetoric towards people on the right side of the political spectrum has continued to spread in the wake of Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters’ disturbing calls for supporters to openly harass and bully President Trump, members of his administration and his supporters.
Another example of the left’s extremism flared up on Tuesday, July 3rd, when a teenager and his friend were accosted by a violent man at a Whataburger restaurant in San Antonio, Texas for openly supporting the President of the United States.
Hunter Richard, 16, was eating with his friend when an unhinged man grabbed Hunter’s “Make America Great Again” hat from his head. The attacker, a 30-year-old male, also threw a drink in Hunter’s face amidst a stream of vile language.
In light of the disturbing, politically-charged attack on a teenager, Franklin Graham issued a bold statement on Facebook and placed the blame for the attack at the feet of the public official who has been the loudest in calling for attacks.
“Maxine Waters is encouraging attacks and harassment against Trump administration members, which we've been seeing happen. Now it's spilling over. Tuesday night 16-year-old Hunter Richard had his hat ripped off his head and a drink thrown on him because his hat said “Make America Great Again.” I’m sure Representative Waters is very proud of the person who did this—but I’m more proud of this young man’s thoughtful response.
He said, “I support my President and if you don’t let’s have a conversation about it instead of ripping my hat off. I just think a conversation about politics is more productive for the entire whole rather than taking my hat and yelling subjective words to me.” Let’s encourage Hunter in the comments below. Our hope for this country is not in wicked politicians who encourage violence, but our only hope is God.”
Do you agree with Franklin?
Since the story first broke, the attacker has been fired from his bartending job. As of yet, no assault charges have filed.
