Wow, that is really an honor. After penning a deeply sentimental song for her late husband, Frank Gifford, Kathie Lee Gifford is donating all of the proceeds to Franklin Graham's ministry, Samaritan's Purse.
The ministry is focused on helping people in desperate situations, both in America and abroad. His latest efforts have been focused on helping the recently ravaged parts of America and the Caribbean from the devastating hurricanes. With donations, they bring food, medical help, and shelter to those who have just faced incredible heartbreak.
Graham gives a huge thanks to Gifford in his latest Facebook post, sharing about the beautiful song Gifford has created for the love of her life.
“I hope it brings hope to people. So many people loved Frank. So many people still do. I wanted to honor his memory with it, but I also wanted it to do some good in the world,” Gifford explained to her co-host, Hoda Kotb, on the TODAY show before performing her song.
“I found my husband on the floor one beautiful Sunday morning,” Kathie Lee shared about the meaning of the song. “I said this was the look on his face — and I said, ‘He saw Jesus, and Jesus took his breath away.’”
Kathie Lee shared about how she told the story to her song's co-writer, country musician Brett James, telling him: “'One day, some day, I’m going to write that song.' And Brett looked at me and he goes, well, let’s write that song.”
Gifford went on to reveal that James actually "tricked" her into recording the song, telling her the track would just be used as a demo for someone else to cover. Here is the beautiful song Gifford wrote for her husband, which has already touched so many.
What do you think of Gifford's incredible tribute to her husband? And the fact that she is donating all of the money to Graham's ministry? Share your thoughts in the comments! Thank you!
Gifford also made headlines this week for sharing about the time she was sexually harassed by a powerful executive in the entertainment industry.
