This is a group of people that makes us happy to see together: Franklin Graham with his daughter Cissie; Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen; Dr. Ben Carson and his wife, Candy; Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, Governor Mike Huckabee and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and many others.

Why the meeting of these wonderful Christian conservatives? President Trump and his wife, Melania, threw a beautiful dinner for the National Day of Prayer on Wednesday night. "America will be a nation that believes forever, and we certainly believe – more than anyone – the power of prayer," President Donald Trump proclaimed at the dinner. "It's the most powerful thing there is."

Speaking to a group of leaders from a variety of faiths, Trump unified them under the call of religious freedom: "Tonight we break bread together united by our love of God, and we renew our resolve to protect the sacred freedom of religion – all of us," he said.

President Trump honored the recently slain in religiously-motivated terrorist attacks: "All of us in this room send our love and prayers to the Jewish Americans wounded at the Chabad of Poway shooting in California," he said. "And our hearts break for the life of Laurie Gilbert-Kaye who was so wickedly taken from us."

"We mourn for the Christians murdered in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday and grieve for the Muslims murdered at their mosques in New Zealand," he said. "Here at home, we also remember the three historically black churches burned recently in Louisiana and the horrific shooting last year at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh."

Franklin Graham shared the honor of going to the dinner with his daughter, Cissie, along with some beautiful photos of the evening.

"It was a privilege for my daughter Cissie and me to be at the White House this evening for a National Day of Prayer dinner hosted by President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump," said Graham on Facebook.

"It was a blessing to be with Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson and his wife, Candy; Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, Governor Mike Huckabee and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and many others. I’m very thankful that we have strong men and women of faith in God serving our country in Washington. President Trump talked about the power and importance of prayer—as he pointed out, our first Continental Congress opened with prayer and it is still vital to our nation today."

How great is it to have a President that really gives honor to the National Day of Prayer and to protecting religious liberties? Share your thoughts in the comments! We love hearing what you think. Thank you!
