On Tuesday, June 12, a historic meeting took place between President Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un. In an unprecedented move, the two leaders met together to discuss the future of "peace and prosperity" between the countries.

According to previous reports, the meeting lasted for a full five hours. After the meeting concluded, President Trump said that they had "developed a special bond" and that they were both on the same page with the plan of denuclearization, which was the entire purpose of the meeting in the first place.

During the summit, President Trump and Kim Jong Un each signed a statement talking about their future plans. The statement included four main points for moving forward. They each agreed to work toward "peace and prosperity," and to "build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula." Additionally, the DPRK committed to working toward complete denuclearization.

After the historic day, prominent Christian leader Franklin Graham spoke out about the entire situation. According to CBN, Franklin has several ties with North Korea. His mother attended high school in Pyongyang. His father, famous evangelist Billy Graham, made two separate visits to the country throughout his life. Franklin Graham himself has visited the country four separate times as well for humanitarian purposes.

During Tuesday's interview, Graham said,  "This conflict needs to be settled. I'm 65 years old so my entire life we've basically been at war with North Korea."

Graham also said that he feels "very optimistic" about what the results of the historic summit will be.

He said, "I think the North Koreans have been wanting to talk to the Americans for a long time and this is the first administration that they've been able to talk to directly like this."

Graham noted that North Koreans just want to be heard. He said, "The North Koreans just want to be shown respect and other administrations brushed them off like they were nothing."

Later, Franklin Graham revealed another promising solution regarding the tensions in North Korea. He noted that the Christians residing there, though currently under persecution, could be the "very best citizens."

Last week, David Curry from Open Doors USA revealed that "Christians are considered the number one enemies of the state in North Korea."

Franklin Graham said, "I want the communist government to know that Christians are not their enemies. They have the potential of being the very best citizens in the country because God commands all of us to pray for those that are in authority."
