On Tuesday, April 17th, former first lady Barbara Bush sadly passed away following several hospitalizations due to failing health. Mrs. Bush was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure prior to her death but the family decided to stop medical treatments and only focus on comfort care.
Following her death, several well-known names paid a tribute to the late first lady including President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania, and many other politicians from both sides of the political spectrum.
On Wednesday, April 18th, Franklin Graham — son of the legendary Billy Graham — also responded to her death in a media appearance on Fox News. On the show, he shared a memory of his father after his wife passed away and said a powerful prayer for the Bush family.
“When my mother passed away, my father never did get over it,” he began. “Even though he lived for another 10 years, my father missed his wife and soulmate and I know that President George H Bush is going through the same.”
Graham added, “And for all of the family — my prayer is that God will just surround that family and put his loving arms around them and that will bring the comfort to that family that only He can do.”
