On Sunday, January 6, thousands around the nation watched as actors and actresses were awarded at the Golden Globes. One of the winners of the night was Christian Bale.

The actor played former Vice President Dick Cheney in a new Hollywood movie loosely based off of his time in the White House with President Bush. The movie reportedly shows both Bush and Cheney in a negative light.

During his acceptance speech, Christian Bale made a shocking comment about former Vice President Dick Cheney. The actor literally thanked Satan for “inspiration” for the role.

Bale reportedly said, “Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role.”

Following the harsh statement, several people have taken to social media to respond. Among the negative responders was Liz Cheney. She posted a reminder of Bale’s arrest in 2008.

Now, prominent Christian leader Franklin Graham has taken to social media to share his thoughts on the entire situation.

He wrote, “This morning’s news seemed to be all about the Golden Globes Awards. Who wore what, ten takeaway moments- on and on. Really? And one of the award-winning actors, Christian Bale,  stood up and thanked Satan for his help. Wow.”

He continued, “Satan is a real being and the Word of God has a lot to say about him and his future. ‘…the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever’ (Rev. 20:10).”

Graham concluded, “I’m thankful to the One who conquered death and saved my soul with His own blood, Jesus Christ. I repented of my sins and put my faith and trust in Him, and now will spend eternity with Him in Heaven. He can do the same for you!”
