On Wednesday, February 21, one of the most influential evangelists in history passed away. Billy Graham was 99-years-old at the time of his death.
Throughout his life, he spoke to an audience of hundreds of millions of people and helped lead many people to Christ. While the impact he had on this earth was already apparent, the stories and testimonies that emerged in the wake of his death showed just how powerful of a life he lived.
Now, his legacy is being carried forward through one of his sons, Franklin Graham. Franklin has spent his life dedicated to sharing the gospel of Jesus, just like his father did. While the ministries that he has started have a different focus then his father did, the heartbeat behind them is the same.
After Billy’s death, Franklin revealed the one word that his father would want on his gravestone: “Preacher.” He also showed a photo of his gravestone, which included a large cross.
Additionally, Franklin Graham announced that his newest book, “Through My Father’s Eyes,” would be about the life lessons that he learned from his father.
On Thursday, Franklin posted an epic throwback photo of him with his father, and fans were over the moon about it! The photo shows a young Franklin and Billy from 1970.
Franklin said, “Here’s a picture of my father @BillyGraham and me from 1970. My new book. Through My Father’s Eyes, contains some of the lessons I learned from him. While I miss my father greatly, I look forward to the day we’re reunited once again. #TBT ThroughMyFathersEyesBook.com”
Franklin Graham has talked several times about being reunited yet again with his father, and he always talked about how Billy never viewed earth as his permanent home.
Though Billy Graham’s death was sad, his consistent discussion of heaven made it feel more hopeful. Now, his legacy continues to live on, through his children and through the thousands of people that he has made an impact on.
