Over the weekend, comedian Kathy Griffin — who became a household name in 2017 following her controversial photo holding Trump’s decapitated head — vulgarly attacked First Lady Melania Trump. Griffin’s vulgar statement came in response to Melania’s thoughts on immigrant children being separated from their families at the border.
“Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform," Melania’s office said in a statement. "She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart.”
“F--- you, Melanie,” Griffin responded via Twitter. “You know damn well your husband can end this immediately...you feckless complicit piece of s---.”
Griffin faced an extensive amount of backlash over her profane remarks against the First Lady. Many top conservative names, including Franklin Graham — the infamous Rev. Billy Graham’s son, commented on Griffin’s remarks.
“I guess Kathy Griffin thinks calling for Democrats & Republicans to work together to fix our immigration policies is a crime?” Graham said.
He followed up with one major question to the public: “What has happened to politics in this country?”
“Can we not even have a serious conversation without being vulgar?” he added.
