Gotta put your money where your mouth is. At least, that's part of the lesson in Franklin Graham's latest explosive post. Sparing no punches, Graham goes after the blatant lavish move of liberal politicians during a record-breaking government shut down.
"With the government still shut down and hundreds of thousands of government employees trying to get by without their paychecks, it’s hard to believe that a group of House & Senate Democrats would head to Puerto Rico for a 'winter retreat,'" slammed Graham. "The President hasn’t taken a salary since he took office, but most of Congress is still taking theirs even though they aren’t getting the job done."
"With a large portion of the White House staff furloughed, President Donald J. Trump hosted the National Championship winning Clemson Football team yesterday and served them a buffet of fast food that he paid for himself!"
"Congress needs to suck up their pride and sit down with President Trump and work out an agreement that would open the government back up," declared Graham. "Would you take time to pray for the President and our representatives in Congress right now? That God would soften their hearts and they would do the right thing for this nation."
Press secretary Sarah Sanders shared that Trump paid for the football players' meals because "the Democrats refuse to negotiate on border security" and "much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed," shares USA Today.
"I had a choice," Trump said. "Do we have no food for you? ... Or do we give you some little quick salads that the First Lady will make, along with the Second Lady — they'll make some salads. (No), I said, you guys aren't into salads."
Trump said he ordered "about 1,000 hamburgers" for the group. He anticipated some of the players would enjoy the meal because there were some "very large people that like eating."
What do you think of Trump's generosity in the midst of the longest partial government shutdown in history? Certainly a strong contrast to the vacationing Democrats, right? Share your thoughts in the comments. Thank you!
