Actor Robert De Niro sparked a massive controversy Sunday evening after cursing out President Trump on the stage of the 72nd annual Tony Awards. The award-winning actor is a well-known Trump critic.
“I'm gonna say one thing: F--- Trump!" De Niro stated. "It's no longer down with Trump, it's f--- Trump!"
At the Tony Awards, he received a standing ovation and a round of a roaring applause in response to his controversial remarks. However, conservative audiences watching from home were utterly displeased.
Many top conservative names spoke out against De Niro’s comments against the President including the son of the legendary Rev. Billy Graham — Franklin Graham.
“President Donald J. Trump is making history in Singapore by meeting with the leader of North Korea, and Robert De Niro has the audacity to curse him on stage, on air, at the 72nd annual Tony Awards last night,” Graham initiated. “Those in the audience should have walked out on such a blatant display of disrespect—but instead, he gets a standing ovation.”
“The unbridled hate many in Hollywood have for this president is unreal,” he added. “There is a battle being waged for direction and the future of this nation—a battle between good and evil—and we need to pray.”
This latest act against President Trump comes in a long series of events where Trump has faced major heat from the Hollywood scene. Other actors/actresses who consistently target President Trump include “The Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence and comedian Rosie O'Donnell.
