The former lead singer of the heavy metal band Of Mice & Men, Austin Carlile, has recently been opening up about his relationship with God. The singer announced that he was leaving his well-known band at the end of 2016.
Carlile’s departure from the band was due to a health diagnosis. The artist was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a disorder resulting from a gene mutation that causes problems with connective tissues.
As news of his diagnosis and sudden departure from Of Mice & Men came to light, the singer has been expressing his faith in a more vocal way. Although he says it is not “cool” or “popular” to glorify God, it is worth it.
The singer posted a powerful image on his Instagram account last July, documenting his experience of being baptized. He said that he was learning to rely on Jesus and becoming devoted to “fully follow Him.”
Since he left Of Mice & Men, Carlile has been working on his health and encouraging people in their faith. He even preached at a youth service recently and said that he would save a seat for whoever wanted to hear about “TRUE hope in this dark world.”
Carlile has had an obvious heart transformation and is now wanting to share about his faith and God's love with others. Even though he knows it does not always receive the respect it deserves, he knows that the love of God can break through any barriers.
