Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly slammed Bill O’Reilly regarding the multiple sexual harassment allegations against him. Kelly worked for Fox for more than a decade, but left the company in large part because of the harassment issues.
O’Reilly, former host of Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” had also been a part of the company for many years—more than 20—even longer than Kelly. However, he was released in 2017 following the recent allegations.
On Kelly’s NBC morning show on Monday, “Megyn Kelly TODAY,” she contradicted O’Reilly’s claim that “no one ever complained about his behavior.” Kelly says that the claim is completely “false” and she knows this because she complained herself in 2016 before officially leaving the network.
Kelly also released a previous email she wrote to the co-presidents of Fox News about the situation. She noted that she had never made this private email public before.
She stated, “Perhaps he didn’t realize that his exact attitude in shaming women into shutting the hell up about harassment, on grounds that it will disgrace the company, is in part how Fox News got into the decade-long Ailes mess to begin with.”
According to Politico, Kelly’s comments come in response to a recent New York Times report that O’Reilly had reach a $32 million settlement in relation to the allegations. After the information was released, O'Reilly called the report "lies and smear" and his lawyer stated it was taken out of context.
Sexual assault has been a hot topic lately following the Fox News accusations this year and the Harvey Weinstein scandal, which erupted just weeks ago. Since Weinstein's fallout, many women have come forward to share their unfortunate experiences with sexual harassment in the workplace.
This news also comes shortly after Kelly was called out for her “extremely low ratings” on her new show. Breitbart previously reported that Kelly’s show has been “blacklisted” because of her bad reviews and reputation.
