One of the most famous players in the NFL has just shocked fans. Jason Witten, the star tight end for the Dallas Cowboys, has just announced he is retiring.
Fans have watched Witten play for decades! He has been an unstoppable force on the field and is said to be an extremely caring and likable guy off the field. He is now being considered for the Hall of Fame by some experts.
Witten apparently won't be too far away from the field while he enjoys his retirement. He is said to be taking a job with ESPN as a commentator!
"Jason Witten is the latest Dallas Cowboys standout to leave the gridiron for the broadcast booth as the 15-year veteran tight end will join ESPN's Monday Night Football, a person familiar with the negotiations told USA TODAY Sports on Thursday," reported USA Today.
"Source confirms Jason Witten was not at Cowboys voluntary workout today: 'When I pulled in the parking lot and saw his spot empty, I said, it's over.'....it's probably the 1st time in his 15+ year career, he's been absent," reported Bill Jones on Twitter.
Witten is 36 years old. He is the all-time career leader in receiving yards, catches, and games played for the Cowboy's franchises. He will surely be missed!
