A popular brand of flour was recently recalled over a possible E. Coli outbreak in the United States. Aldi voluntarily recalled Bakers Corner All Purpose Flour, the company announced in a press release on Thursday, May 23rd.
“ALDI has recalled Bakers Corner All Purpose Flour sold at retail locations in the Northeastern United States due to a potential presence of E.coli,” the statement noted.
Eleven states are impacted by this recall: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. According to a post from the FDA (below), 17 illnesses were reported in eight of those states.
It is possible that the number of illnesses may increase. The recall was issued in hopes of preventing consumers from getting sick.
The recalled products were sold in a 5-pound bag with a "best by" date of December 2nd of 2019. The UPC code on the flour product is 041498130404.
