Earlier this week, news broke that First Lady Melania Trump, 48, had to undergo kidney surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, D.C. As previously reported, Mrs. Trump had reportedly been experiencing an issue with her kidney that required medical attention.
Fortunately, her medical condition was described as “benign,” meaning there was no sign of cancer or serious harm. However, she is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days during her initial recovery.
President Trump visited America’s First Lady shortly after her surgery took place. He also announced that his wife was in “good spirits” and thanked everyone for their support.
On Wednesday afternoon, two days after the procedure, Melania released her first statement since being in the hospital.
“A sincere thank you to Walter Reed Medical Unit [Walter Reed Bethesda] & to all who have send good wishes & prayers!” the First Lady stated. “I am feeling great & look forward to getting back home at the White House soon.”
