Firefighters save dog that tumbled over the bay at Miami Beach — watch the heartwarming rescue

A dog fell over the bay in Miami Beach while playing with its owner, prompting the intervention of the local fire department.

The adorable rescue was caught on camera and shared on the Miami Fire Department’s Facebook page. According to the post a woman was playing with her dog in the dog park when her canine fell into the water.

Fire Rescue Truck 22 (Engine 2) and Engine 2 were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters Santis and Escudero intervened to save the panicked dog.

The footage shows a firefighter climbing down a roof ladder while perched on the seawall. The water was about thigh-deep at that time and the dog was struggling to keep her head in the water while paddling. She was afraid and hiding under the wall.

The firefighter approached the dog and grabbed her harness, guiding her back to the ladder. He lifted the pup over his right shoulder. The dog starts to move as another firefighter climbs down to find the first. As he ascends with only one arm, he will carry the dog up.

Once they have reached the top of the mountain, a third firefighter grabs their pup and places them on the ground. The phrases “do not pet” and “in training” are seen printed on the canine’s harness as she is lifted back onto dry land.

A small crowd begins to form as the man behind the camera pats the dog on the head and assures her, “It’s okay!”

Finally, the water-logged pup is reunited with her grateful owner, who can be heard saying, “I’m sorry guys,” before telling her dog to “say thank you” to her saviors.

And the dog’s response? The dog responded with a vigorous shake and sprayed everyone with water! We’re glad to see the canine is in good spirits after her scary accident.

“We’re so happy to have been able to help” the department wrote in a Facebook post alongside the heartwarming video.

Another rescue dog occurred in Streator Illinois. Unbeknownst to her owner, Macy, a senior Golden retriever, fell into a sinkhole. After Macy had been missing for almost a day, volunteers and a drone were dispatched to search for her.

Wrigley, one her park playmates, was able to go on a walk with his owners the following day. The dog saw his friend in a sinkhole and began to whine and bark at it to alert his owner.

The Streator Fire Department responded and began the rescue. It was captured on camera.

Initially, the firefighters tried to get Macy out with a ladder, but she couldn’t climb it because of her hip and leg problems. So, Fire Chief Fred McClellan descended into the hole to wrap webbing across the dog’s abdomen so the rest of the team could pull her out.

McClellan lost his footing as firefighters lifted Macy out of the hole. His engineer Tim Redd managed to rescue the dog.

Macy went home with her owner and is “doing well and resting.”

These firefighters deserve kudos for their efforts in saving our furry friends!
