Prayers are needed for Bre Payton, a staff writer at The Federalist. The conservative journalist was found unconscious in her room Thursday morning.
Payton, 26, is currently in critical condition at a San Diego, California, hospital.
Her friend Morgan Murtaugh, who was the youngest female candidate for Congress in 2018, was first reported the news on Twitter Friday morning. She was the one who found Payton on Thursday.
She wrote, “24 hours ago I found my friend unconscious and called 911,” Murtaugh said. “She’s been in a coma since and really needs a miracle right now. Please, if you’re religious at all, send prayers this way. We really need them.”
She shared more details on Payton's Caring Bridge. She wrote that Payton has H1N1 and possibly meningitis.
“Bre was taken to the hospital where she was admitted to the ICU, sedated & intubated, and doctors began working up a diagnosis. After a CT scan and hours of testing, they have determined she has the H1N1 flu and possibly meningitis."
She also shared that her neurological symptoms are concerning: "The doctors are concerned that her neurological signs are not great at this point and have informed us the next 24-48 hours are going to be critical for her.”
Fellow journalists took to Twitter to ask for prayers for her. Meghan McCain also tweeted out a request for prayers for her friend.
Payton has been a staff writer with The Federalist for more than three years. She is also the co-host of OANN's “Tipping Point” with anchor Liz Wheeler.
Please join us in storming heaven with prayers for Bre. She needs our help now. Please also join us in praying for the family of a beloved news anchor who was found dead in his hotel room at only 43.
