Hillary Clinton took a desperate swipe at Donald Trump last night in an attempt to counteract the fallout from her newest e-mail and Clinton Foundation woes. But the timing was all off.
According to Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times, Hillary's campaign manager Robby Mook said during a conference call that FBI Director James Comey should be investigating Trump's ties to Russia.
About an hour later, with oddly coincidental timing, the leftist Slate magazine excitedly published a report online about computer scientists discovering that a Trump computer server was linked to a Russian bank.
A few hours later, according to Politicus USA, Hillary Senior Policy Adviser Jake Sullivan sent out a statement saying, "We can only assume that federal authorities will now explore this direct connection between Trump and Russia as part of their existing probe into Russia’s meddling in our elections."
But in the same hour, the FBI announced that their months-long investigation into possible ties between Trump and Russia have found no evidence of any, according to the New York Times.
Whoops. Bad timing for the Hillary campaign.
