On Saturday “Game of Thrones” costars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie married in a romantic ceremony at Kirton of Rayne church in Scotland. It was a match made in Westeros. Fans of the stars and of the show expressed their thoughts through social media, gushing over the newly wedded pair.
Harington and Leslie, who are both 31, had been dating for several years, then announced publicly that they were a couple in 2016. For several seasons they played characters with a love interest on screen.
Harington plays Jon Snow in “Game of Thrones,” while Leslie played Ygritte before her character was killed off in the fourth season. According to CNN Harington’s proposal to Leslie went a little less-than-romantic as he had first planned.
"I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff, but we were in the country and we were sort of under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and ... I popped my question a bit early,"
Leslie appeared radiant in her delicate long-sleeve lacy dress. She wore a floral garland on her head, including a white veil, carrying a small bouquet of flowers. Harington was dressed in a black jacket, a cream-colored vest, and a pair of striped pants.
The star-studded celebration was attended by their “Game of Thrones” costars, including Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, who play sisters on the show, according to PEOPLE. Also attending were Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke.
