The reality star worked as a model before her death. This brought her into close contact with supermodels and designers.
She was close friends with supermodel Kate Moss. She was also in a relationship with late fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
McQueen committed suicide in 2010. At the time, Nielson said the death was devastating for her.
“He was my brother, my boyfriend, my soulmate. Most of the time people called me Mrs McQueen,” Neilson, who was the last person to see the designer alive, told the Daily Mail in 2015.
“The truth is I was happier with Lee than with anyone else. He asked me to marry him towards the end and I said no. I wish now that I had said yes,” she added.
Neilson had drug problems as a teenager. She told the Daily Mail that she was a heroin addict at age 16, but she was able to remain sober later in life.
In addition to being a model, Nielson comes from an aristocratic family. Her mother Elizabeth is a Marquesa.
Fans of the model and reality star took to Twitter to express their sadness.
