Dylan Donahue, a linebacker for the New York Jets, has plead guilty Wednesday for a DUI charge stemming from a crash in February.
According to Pop Culture, the accident took place when the 25-year-old drive drove his car the wrong way through the Lincoln Tunnel, leading him to smash into a private passenger bus.
The bus was transporting more than a dozen people. Four of them wound up in the hospital.
Donahue was initially facing three charges levied against him, but two of them were dropped when he agreed to plead guilty to the crime of operating a vehicle while under the influence.
Since the accident, Donahue has been required to enter a DUI education program. His license was suspended for three months. And an ignition interlock device was installed in his vehicle for a year.
His attorney, Terry Webb, provided a statement on his behalf, saying, “Dylan accepts full responsibility for his actions and apologizes to his friends and family and fans. Dylan has been sober since the incident and is still committed to living a sober life."
Donahue checked himself into rehab following the accident, confirmed by his agent Gary Uberstine.
"Dylan recognizes the seriousness of these issues and has voluntarily taken some important initial steps to deal with them," Uberstine said in a statement. "He is committed to this process of self-improvement, appreciates people respecting his privacy as he works to get healthy, and will address this matter publicly at an appropriate time."
