Famous Golfer Dies of Cancer at Only 36, Leaves Behind Two Young Children

The sad news has come that Australian professional golfer Jarrod Lyle has passed away. This comes hours after the sad news that he had slipped into a coma after ceasing his treatment. 

It was reported at the beginning of August that he would have to cease receiving cancer treatment. This was the 36-year-old's third time being diagnosed with cancer. 

PEOPLE reported his death on Wednesday. He died Wednesday night at his home in Torquay, Victoria, after deciding to end treatment for acute myeloid leukemia. His wife, Briony, announced the sad news. 

In a statement, she told The Sydney Morning Herald: “It breaks my heart to tell everyone that Jarrod is no longer with us." 

Lyle was first diagnosed with leukemia when he was just a teenager in 1999 at the young age of 17. He overcame that and a later battle with cancer, and he excelled as a golfer. Recently, he was sadly diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

Jarrod's wife revealed in an instagram post that that his health had taken a "severe downturn" and that he made the decision to end his treatment and go into palliative care. She said that he would be moving closer to home in his final days.

On Wednesday, August 8, reports emerged that Lyle had fallen into a coma under his palliative care. After the news of his sad death, friends and fans alike took to Twitter to mourn his loss.
