The entertainment world is in mourning today after the loss of an iconic actress. Katherine MacGregor, best known for playing Harriet Oleson on "Little House on the Prairie", has passed away.
"MacGregor died Tuesday at the Motion Picture and Television Fund's retirement home in Woodland Hills, Calif.," spokeswoman Katie Kornfield said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
MacGregor was 93 years of age. From 1974 until 1983 she portrayed the wife of mild-mannered Mercantile general store owner Nels Oleson on the show. Fans came to know and love her as an iconic member of the cast.
"I look for the humor of Mrs. Oleson," she told the Santa Cruz Sentinel in 1981. "She was originally painted as just black-and-white mean. Anyone that mean has to be a fool. So I began mixing farce into it. I think the audience counts on seeing Mrs. Oleson fall on her fanny."
Tributes for the late actress poured in across social media. Fans reached out to send their condolences and offer their best memories from watching the show. MacGregor only appeared on screen one other time since LHOTP concluded.
Please join us in praying for Katherine's family as they mourn her loss. We pray that God's peace and comfort will surround them and that their fond memories will sustain them during this sad time.
