In 2015, a tragic accident occurred at Demi Moore's home. The award-winning actress was out of town at the time of the accident, but she was blamed for it nonetheless.

Someone on Moore's staff had thrown a party at her home in Los Angeles. While at the party, 21-year-old Edenilson Steven Valle reportedly tripped into the pool and drowned.

Immediately after the incident, Moore sent her condolences to Valle's family.

She said, "I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got this devastating news. The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy, and my heart goes out to this young man's family and friends."

Though Moore was not present at the party thrown at her house, she was blamed for the incident. Valle's family filed several lawsuits over Edenilson's death.

At first, the lawsuits extended to the owners of the property, Tree House Trust, as well as Moore's personal assistant and one other staff member who was responsible for the party. Shortly after, however, they filed a lawsuit against Moore herself.

The lawsuit was added for "failing to place depth markers near what they claim was an excessively deep pool."

Along with the lack of markers, Valle's parents claimed that the "rocks by the pool's edge were a tripping hazard, and that alcohol and the pool's dangerously high temperature were factors in his death."

According to TMZ, the young man had told the other attendees at the party that he did not know how to swim. Party-goers said that everyone was gone when he allegedly tripped and fell into the pool, and thus did not find him until it was too late.

After over two years of working out the logistics of the lawsuit, Moore finally reached a settlement on the incident.

The courtroom document said, "Both sides have reached an agreement and asked the court to dismiss the case."

The total amount that Valle's parents were seeking in damages has still not been revealed, though the original amount was for $25,000.
