An actor from an iconic television show has just passed away. Peter Donat, best known for playing Agent Fox Mulder's dad on "The X-Files" as well as in numerous Coppola films, has died.
Donat died at his home in Point Reyes, California on Monday. He was 90 years old. His wife has reached out and made a statement regarding his cause of death. She says the veteran actor passed away due to complications from diabetes.
"Donat, perhaps most recognizable for his recurring 'X-Files' role, was also a frequent stage actor, playing Cyrano de Bergerac, Prospero, Shylock, King Lear and Hadrian VII over the years. He also guest starred on TV series like 'The F.B.I.,' 'Hawaii Five-O,' 'Mannix,' 'McMillan & Wife,' 'Hill Street Blues' and 'Murder, She Wrote,'" reported Variety.
Peter was originally from Canada. He made his debut in theater in 1957 and his career went on to span numerous decades. He was married and also a father, as well as a grandfather to 11 grandchildren.
