Do you remember the stories about Hillary Clinton saying she communes with the dead? Back in 1996, Hillary wrote a column about how she holds conversations with former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, who died in 1962.
"She usually responds by telling me to buck up, or at least to grow skin as thick as a rhinoceros," Hillary said at the time, according to CNN.
According to Bob Woodward, Hillary’s close personal adviser at the time was Jean Houston, co-director of a group that specializes in psychic experiences. Now 22 years later, an 11-year-old girl became fascinated with the subject after reading about Hillary’s conversations with the dead in an online story, Fox News reports.
That’s when Mary Reinard, 11, decided to write a letter to Hillary to see if talking to the deceased was actually possible. Mary herself lost a baby sister and hoped to speak with to her.
Not knowing how to get the letter mailed to Hillary, Reinard asked her teacher, Benjamin Attinger, for help. Mary’s mother Shannon was horrified when she saw how the teacher had spelled Hillary’s first name on the envelope and angrily called him.
According to Shannon, Attinger defended his actions by saying, “When I addressed it, I put 'liar' in the name because I was telling her it [talking to the dead] wasn’t true. It was kind of a joke. I didn’t really expect it to be taken the way that apparently she took it. I apologize.”
But that didn’t satisfy Shannon, who said, “He can write a letter himself and call her a liar. Don’t channel it through my 11-year-old daughter.”
Even Mary’s dad Shawn, who says he supports Trump but didn’t vote in the last presidential election, was angry. Initially, he laughed at the teacher’s “joke” but became upset when he realized how much it had hurt his daughter.
“I’m angry. Whether I agree or not, you keep that out of school. His student asked him for help, and he failed as a teacher. At minimum, he owes my little girl a public apology,” Shawn insisted.
The school district has spoken with the parents but not action, if any, against the teacher has been announced, according to the Daily Item.
