Although the ages of knights and castles has long passed, many folks are still interested by the former way of life. A lot of medieval reenactments take place to show people exactly how things operated during the medieval age.

Sadly, a tragic accident just occurred during one of those reenactments. A man dressed as a knight was impaled by his own lance and has passed away from his injuries.

"Peter Barclay, 53, from Virginia, was competing in an equestrian event when he was wounded last weekend. He had been trying to spear a paper plate on the ground when the accident occurred in Williamstown, Kentucky," reported 9 News.

Peter performed using the stage name Master Terafan Greydragon. He sadly passed away while being transported to the local hospital.

"The metal-tipped lance, similar to that used in jousts in the Middle Ages, flipped on impact with the ground and hit him in the chest," reported 9 News.

The Society for Creative Anachronism is investigating the incident and making sure all safety precautions were being followed at the time of the accident. They have released a statement about losing Peter.

“The Society is investigating the matter and is fully cooperating with the authorities.

“The Society Marshal is conducting an investigation to determine what might have led up to the accident, and what specific measures should be taken to ensure that this does not occur again. Upon the completion of our investigation, the SCA will make the results available to the public. We have reached out to Terafan’s family to express our support for them at this moment of loss. We ask that Terafan and his family be held in your hearts," they said.

Please join us in sending our thoughts and prayers to everyone who knew and loved Peter. We pray that God's healing grace would surround them and comfort them through this sad time.
